Shower units are used to provide showers to evacuees and relief workers in areas with limited facilities such as refugee shelters and churches.
This unit has 4 stalls with a maximum service capacity of about 150 persons/day. It deploys with a crew of 2 to 4 persons.
The unit is very large and requires a big truck to haul it (see below).
The unit has special set up and take down instructions for hooking up the water, gas (for water heating), and electrical. The unit director must be someone experienced in these procedures the other workers can be trained on the job.
Most of the work is organizing shower schedules and laundering the towel sets.
This unit is deployed on mission events with churches as much or more than it is deployed in disaster situations. When there is a conflict of interests disaster events take precedence.
The Denton Baptist Association's shower unit was placed into service in June of 2009 and first deployed for a youth
mission event in Dallas, Texas that same month.
